Alie Caldwell is a neuroscientist and science communicator living in Chicago, Illinois. By day, she's the Senior Science Writer at the University of Chicago Medicine, writing stories and coordinating with the media to share the exciting research being done by university scientists and clinicians. By night, she's Alie Astrocyte, the co-creator, writer, and host of Neuro Transmissions, an award-winning educational YouTube channel dedicated to making the brain accessible for everyone. She has freelanced for a number of other outlets, including Brainfacts.org and SciShow, and is currently co-writing her first book, "Your Brain: A User's Manual", due out in spring of 2021.
